Be honest, do the words STRENGTH TRAINING make you think of heavy dumbbells and big beefy weight lifters? Its a pretty common misconception that that is what strength training is all about, however this is not the case at all.  While some people train with those specific goals in mind, the effects of strength training are very specific to the style used and the goals of the person doing it. Also, while it is common for men to gain more muscle mass when training, women have much lower levels of testosterone, the hormone needed to build large muscle mass.

What is strength training? Strength or resistance training is a type of physical exercise that uses resistance to induce a muscular contraction to help develop endurance, tone and power of one’s muscle fibers. The resistance used can come in many forms including weights, bands or even just one’s own body weight.

Strength training is such an essential key to keeping our body running well and feeling great that it is one we should all be including in our weekly routines. The long list of benefits includes helping you:

Tone &Tighten is an innovative class that combines strength training, core work and Yoga stretches to give you a well rounded and effective workout that targets every muscle group in your body. This class will help you develop long, lean muscles, improve full body flexibility, all while getting a cardiovascular workout to keep your heart strong and healthy too!!

Tone & Tighten is offered every Wednesday and Friday from 7:30-8:30am, Fridays classes use resistance bands to add variety to your workout and gently increase the intensity of your workout to enhance the results you get.
